(May 13, 2011) — A team of Webster Bank employees participated in a Habitat for Humanity of Westchester Build Day today in Yonkers, N.Y.
The team helped to build a near zero-energy house at 5-7 Orchard Street, putting up walls, doing some layout work and a lot of cleanup.
Habitat for Humanity of Westchester is a volunteer organization that aims to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness throughout Westchester County, and to make decent, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and public action.
“Webster was founded in the Great Depression to help people build and buy homes, so it’s only appropriate that we’re here today helping to make sure a family has a reliable roof over their heads,” said Brendan Sachtjen, Webster’s regional president for New York. “Webster is dedicated to making a difference in our communities, going the extra mile and giving a hand up wherever we can.”
In addition to Sachtjen, Webster’s team included Peter Mosbacher, Robin Gallagher, Stephen Karp, Maria Freburg, Rachel Mancini, Anna Bruno, Franklin Vasquez, Dave Delgado and Joseph Siciliano.
