(5/14/11) — A team of 19 employees from Webster Bank’s continuous improvement unit participated May 13 in the United Way of Meriden and Wallingford’s Cay of Caring by helping improve the grounds at the Wallingford YMCA, which had been ravaged by numerous storms this past winter.
Under the direction of Todd Mahoney, facilities director for this YMCA, the team pruned, raked, and cleaned up the playscape area, transplanted plants, planted new flowers, and spread two truckloads of mulch around three properties. Mahoney estimated that the work done by the Webster volunteers during the Day of Caring saved the YMCA about $1,800 in landscaping expenses.
