(May 23, 2011) — Webster Bank did its part to help end hunger in Connecticut and Boston by sponsoring five food bank walks in the month of May and sending employees to participate in each event.
Three of the events were held in May. They included: The Connecticut Food Bank’s Walk Against Hunger in New Haven, Conn. On May 1.; FoodShare’s Walk Against Hunger in Hartford, Conn., on May 1; and Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger in Boston on May 1. The other two events were the Connecticut Food Bank’s Walk Against Hunger in Bridgeport on May 15 and its Walk Against Hunger in Waterbury on May 22.
“Helping to make sure that families have food on the table is especially important to Webster, particularly as so many families continue to struggle with joblessness and the sluggish economy,” said Kathy Luria, vice president, community affairs. “We also embrace these events because they offer a way for our Webster bankers to participate and demonstrate their commitment to our communities and the fight to end hunger.”
