(9/1/11) — Webster Bank has donated $15,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for Hurricane Irene. The donation will help the Red Cross supply food, shelter and basic services for storm victims in Webster's four-state footprint spanning Westchester County, N.Y., Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.
“Since our founding by my father during the Great Depression, Webster has supported the American Red Cross's efforts to stabilize communities in times of need,” said Webster Bank Chairman and CEO James C. Smith. “‘Being there' is a trait we share with the American Red Cross. We are grateful for the critical work they do in communities during times of disaster, and are committed to supporting their vitally important work.”
““We are thankful for Webster's support,” said Dianne Auger, CEO of the American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region. “Webster's generous donation will help the Red Cross to be there for our neighbors when they need it most.”
