(9/15/11) — A team from Webster Bank’s Human Resources Department spent the day today volunteering at the 18th annual Hartford (Conn.) Area Habitat for Humanity Build-a-Thon, which focused on South Marshall Street in Hartford’s Asylum Hill neighborhood.
Webster was a platinum sponsor of the weeklong building blitz, the biggest Hartford Habitat fundraiser of the year to aid the organization’s ongoing efforts to eliminate substandard housing an make decent shelter a matter of conscience. The event brought together individuals, faith groups and corporate volunteers to tackle the goal of constructing 16 safe, simple, affordable homes on South Marshall Street.
“The team braved the wet mud and pouring rain to complete the build that day,” said Denise Milde, senior vice president, human resources. “We were glad to do it for this neighborhood in because it not only improves neighborhood housing, it benefits the area as a whole and it is in keeping with Webster’s commitment to give back to the communities we serve.”
