Webster Business Credit Corporation (WBCC) dates back to 1968, when it was a small division of J. Henry Schroder Bank and Trust Company formed to support the working capital and long term financing needs of middle market companies. Today, WBCC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Webster Bank, N.A., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Webster Financial Corporation (NYSE: WBS). WBCC has grown into a premier provider of customized asset-based lending and cash management services throughout the northeast, including financing for mid-sized manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers.

The following are a list of significant events in our history:

  • 1968: Our organization is formed as a division of J. Henry Schroder Bank and Trust Company
  • 1987: The bank changed its name to IBJ Schroder Bank and Trust Company, to reflect the new majority owner, The Industrial Bank of Japan, Limited (IBJ)
  • 1996: Our organization is formed as a stand-alone subsidiary of the bank and is named IBJ Schroder Business Credit Corporation
  • 1999: Warren Mino Joins IBJ Schroder Business Credit Corporation as Chief Credit Officer
  • 1999: Our organization establishes a Retail Finance Group, which is headquartered in Massachusetts
  • 1999: Our organization changes its name to IBJ Whitehall Business Credit Corporation in conjunction with IBJ’s purchase of the last remaining shares held by Schroder
  • 2001: Warren Mino appointed President of IBJ Whitehall Business Credit Corporation
  • 2002: Webster Bank, N.A. acquires IBJ Whitehall Business Credit Corporation
  • 2003: Our name is officially changed to Webster Business Credit Corporation
